Confusion
editIs this supposed to be a grouping of
- Investment companies (i.e. companies whose shares are traded on a stock exchange, that exist to invest shareholder's funds in other companies; for example investment trusts and VCTs)
or
- Investment management companies (i.e. companies whose line of business is managing money and collecting fees)?
There is clearly confusion over this as some companies listed in this category are the former (e.g. Edinburgh Investment Trust, Greencoat UK Wind) some the latter (e.g. Hermes, Newton). And several are neither (Killik & Co, an adviser; Interactive Investor, a platform).
It would also seem there is a separate category intended for the latter.
What can we do to clear this up? Do we need a description on the category, and/or some form of moderation or… Thoughts?
