editIs there any clear way we could define what articles belong in this category? I stuck Category:Christian martyrs in here because it was orphaned, but I'm afraid to start adding to it wholesale.
People like Polycarp, Justin Martyr, and Ignatius are, so far as I know, generally referred to as "martyrs" by just about anyone and I should think that sticking them in some sort of martyr category would be extremely helpful. However, the term in modern usage is politically sensitive, so I thought I'd ask for opinions. [[User:Aranel|Aranel ("Sarah")]] 16:09, 2 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Well, I just filled out Category:Christian martyrs using fairly broad criteria: if the article said "so-and-so is considered a martyr/was declared a martyr/died for his or her faith", then in it went.
- We also ought to have a Category:Shahada for Islamic martyrs. Non-religious martyrs should either go in this category or in something like Category:Secular martyrs; I'm not sure. —No-One Jones (m) 15:28, 22 Oct 2004 (UTC)
Non religious martyrs
editDo people like Neda Soltani, who isn't a religious matyr, qualify for inclusion in this category? Andjam (talk) 13:12, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
