Rename to Category:Mathematical structures?
editWP:NCCAT#Special conventions for lists of items suggests the plural form for categories containing "pages which are each about a kind of X or an individual X". See also WP:CFR. —Tobias Bergemann (talk) 10:02, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you, I fully agree, I'm going to move the page right now.--Jorgen W (talk) 15:55, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
Existance of this category
editI'm not sure what the purpose of this category is? There are very many things which could be called mathematical structures, possibly in the thousands. It is really too broad to be of much use and duplicates the existing categories for mathematics. --Salix (talk): 16:20, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry, I don't agree. Arguably the same should apply (reductio ab absurdum) to many mathematical objects, definitions, axioms .... and their relevant categories ;).---Jorgen W (talk) 16:41, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
- This cat may be regarded as meta-category of well-known mathematical structures, and as a result, objects such as monoids, groups, fields and so on, should fall within [[Category:Algebraic structures]].--Jorgen W (talk) 01:50, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
