Dyslexia and notation
editSeems that Dolfrog and I have a difference of opinion about whether Dyslexia should be added as a category to the Notation category. Anyone else have an opinion? Libcub (talk) 16:50, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
Trying to find a solution
editThose who are dyslexic have a problem using their cultures visual notation of Speech. So if there was an article concerning the Visual notion of Speech, or in our shared culture the written word, then dyslexia could just include a new article regarding the visual notation of Speech, which also includes writing systems and orthograhy etc. But the written word is still a form of notation, which is waht the Notation category is about. And dyslexics have a preblem with many forms of notation including some of the forms of notation included in the existing article in this category.

- Sorry, not clear what you are suggesting. Libcub (talk) 04:31, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
This article and category is about Notation, but fails to metion the notation used to create the article, which i am using to provide this message and use this notation to make your replies, the visual notation of Speech. So for example the Chess notations are a sub category of the visual notation of speech.
So I am asking for the Visual notation of speech to be invluded in your article so that others can have a clearer idea why they may have problems using the various notations.

- Well, no. I see your point that writing is itself a form of notation, but that's not how it's generally defined. The term "notation" refers to forms of specialist symbolic representation that are not ordinary writing. Gordonofcartoon (talk) 19:35, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
Your answer is too simplistic and not very scientific.
The next question is how do you define ordinary writing if it is not a collection of symbols to be a visual representation or notation of sound. how do you scientifically define the difference in the evolution of notation.
And why is there no universal form of writning using the same symbols, and why are there different writing systems and different orthographies
So may be we need a history of notation so that we can see how the different types of notation have evolved.
may be we need to ask those on the List of languages by writing systems this question because they seem to spend their time sorting this out. or that is the impression i got from my brief necounter with them.
To go back to dyslexia. Dyslexics have problems with the visual notation of speech, and dyslexia has both visual and auditory underlying causes because of the visual notation of an auditory communication system, SPEECH. Which is why all of these issues which may seem u related are very inportnat to dyslexia, and why they should all be included in the category of dyslexia.
