Pejoratives for disabled persons

edit

Words/ terms held as offensive and degrading people with disabilities include retard, crippled, looney, idiot savant, blind bat, dumb mute, limbless, lame, and corky from the TV character from 1980s show 'Life goes on'. Although terms like handicapped aren't entirely unacceptable, but it's used as a disparaging label at times. We need to watch our words when talking about persons with disabilities, physical and mental, in ways not to indignify them as people, no matter how they look or behave. It's a lesson of tolerance and respect to those persons, most of them able to live normal lives. + 207.200.116.10 03:09, 11 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

"Gay" is offensive?

edit

I'm a newbie to Wikipedia. I thought that Wikipedia was supposed to not present a POV. It seems to me that saying "Gay" is a pejorative term is a POV. I don't consider it a pejorative term. Can someone give me feedback on that? Thanks. Jay 03:48, 23 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Dude, that comment was so gay. --60.36.179.50 (talk) 00:40, 8 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Missing Pejorative Terms

edit

Based on my observations, this list is very BIAS, because its missing some terms that are HIGHLY OFFENSIVE without a doubt!!! It lists terms that should NOT be on the list like "U Word", "House Negro", etc. BTW, "House Negro" should be "House Nigger" which is the actual name for the insult though both are offensive. Also, pejorative terms for Hispanics and Asians are missing such as "spic", "beaner" "Chink" "Jap", etc. Also some pejorative terms for white/Caucasian people (i.e. "honky", "cracker" "whitey", etc) and for men ("cocksucker", etc) are missing and should also be added on this list.

If this list gets any longer, it should be retitled as non-politically correct language due to its over inclusivness. Slang is not the same thing as perjoative. If that were true, the entire english language would be included. User: retrograde62: 4:46 24 September 2016 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.180.255.76 (talk)

It is not a list, it is a category. If you find missing articles that are relevant to its scope, you can add them yourself. Some of the terms you mentioned have no Wikipedia articles covering them. "Cocksucker" for example is a redirect and links to the article on fellatio. Dimadick (talk) 06:36, 28 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
