Jennifer Stultz. Gastonia's first woman mayor 1999-2011. Born May 20, 1947 to Myrtle and Elmore Thomas. Graduated from Ashley High School in 1965. College at Kings College and Gaston College in Business and Early Childhood Education. Mrs. Stultz launched her non-partisan campaign on the basis of "City Wide, City Pride". She managed to gather a large, supportive following from grassroots citizens - raising an unprecedented level of support for community pride and involvement. Wes Helms plya d pro baseball for the Atlanta Braves, the Milwaukee Brewers, the Florida Marlins, and also Philadelphia Phillies.
