It's beneficial in that it's less pinpointed and groups subjects from a region that shares cultural and geographic features across two different country borders. Following the CfD, I have moved articles beginning with A-M out of this category. In most cases I simply removed the category link, as the person was already in an indirect subcategory. For example, Bruce Abbott is in Category:Male actors from Portland, Oregon, which eventually links up to here. Exception: I added categories to Clifton James. The map on the category page includes part of Idaho, which is not a subcategory of Pacific NW. The only subjects from Idaho appeared to be Chief Joseph and Lee Morse, who are also from Oregon.
