Forgive me if I'm mistaken but in accordance with the naming conventions, isn't China supposed to be used in relation to a geographic area roughly defined as being the regions under PRC or ROC jurisdiction? If so, then shouldn't this category be filed under the PRC or at least Category:Ports and harbours of China and not directly under Category:Ports and harbours by country? Unless of course there has been some kind of declaration of independence in Hong Kong that I am not aware of... -Loren06:28, 16 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
Hong Kong categories are immediately subcategories of their corresponding by country categories (meaning of the English word country as used on Wikipedia, c.f. list of countries, category:lists of countries, category:categories by country, etc.). For navigational purposes, Hong Kong categories are at the same time subcategories of China or PRC categories if they aren't mainland China-specific. If the China or PRC are mainland China-specific, then they're connected with the Hong Kong ones by wikilinks. The rule generally applies to topics involving human and cultural inputs, such as companies, buildings, however there are exceptions to purely natural features such as mountains and rivers. There have been attempts to properly title mainland China-specific categories, making them subcategories of PRC categories, such attempts have nevertheless been blocked by some certain users who refused to recognise the reality that distinctions do exist. — Instantnood11:54, 16 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
