We should merge category:discrimination and category:prejudice and category:prejudices into category:prejudice and discrimination, otherwise we'll be basically repeating the same list twice. --Sonjaaa 20:12, July 26, 2005 (UTC)
- I think the contents of category:prejudices should be moved into category:discrimination, and there should also be a List of prejudices, since that is all that category:prejudices is. -- Reinyday, August 5, 2005
- the whole category structure of bigotry, prejudice, racism, discrimination, etc. needs to be reorganized. Gzuckier 19:58, 13 December 2005 (UTC)
- I agree with Sonjaaa's proposal. I'm not very active these days; shoot me an e-mail when you need my vote on WP:CFD (or whatever procedure may be appropriate now). — Sebastian (talk) 23:43, 29 December 2005 (UTC)
- I think the categories prejudice and discrimination need to be distinct. Prejudices are negative attitudes about groups of people. They may or may not lead to discrimination. Discrimination may or may not result from prejudice. It may result from the unintentional adverse effect of policies, for example.Wuzzy 10:53, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
- Keep separate. Prejudice is a Psychological attitude. Discrimination is a Human behavior. The can be combined at Category:Prejudice and discrimination anyway. Rfrisbietalk 04:10, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
- Keep separate per argument by Rfrisbie. To simplify it even more: prejudice is a thought, while discrimination is necessarily an action. GregorB 20:02, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
- Keep separate Discrimination and prejudice are not the same thing. Prejudice is an innate disdain for a general category, whereas discrimination is an actual action against a group of people or things User:Elakhna 15:17, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

- Keep Separate The discrimination series is already too large and disorganized.

- Keep Separate for reasons stated above. —Christopher Mann McKaytalk 22:49, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
- Keep Separate Wuzzy said it best. And though there is a lot of sorting work to be done here, that's no reason to merge everything together. futurebird 17:54, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
- Please Merge prejudice and unfair discrimination is cause and effect.... As a South African, I know that prejudice is the cause behind unfair discrimination. Unfair discrimination, whether in political policies or in actions between people, is the result of prejudice, either of an individual, or of a group of people that regard themselves as similar and hence need 'protection' from those not like themselves. Realwoman (talk) 09:36, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
- Keep Separate, though the two are linked, merging will create confusion! --Ekabhishek (talk) 06:54, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
- Keep Separate Please Close. Very distinct topics. Prejudice is often a cause of discrimination. Category for sun (interplanetary objects) not merged with category for growing plants. Also one is legal act of discrimination the other is a psychological state of fear and loathing. Question: is it legal for non-admin to close and pull the template?? We then need an admin to seal and archive the discussion.Overwhelming consensus to keep separate.Resolved

Restoring category
editI am restoring the Category:Majority–minority relations. Prejudice can be found in almost all power relationships between both racial and ethnic populations where the dominate race or ethnicity is a majority in the population while lesser power races and ethnicities are a minority. See the article on Prejudice. Thus, the category is apt. Meclee (talk) 20:15, 30 April 2016 (UTC)
