Empty cat?

edit

Currently (as of Feb 2018), this category is empty. It was populated with articles on various Prince Hall buildings, but those have been moved to more appropriate categories (such as Category:Masonic buildings and Category:Former Masonic buildings). While I am tempted to renominate this category for deletion (or redirection), I think a better solution would be to keep it, and populate it with articles on Notable Prince Hall lodges. Unfortunately, we need to write those articles. The original Africa Lodge should definitely have an article, and there are a few prominent local lodges that might be considered notable enough to pass WP:ORG (for example Boyer Lodge in NY). I object to sneaky tactics of deleting all the categorizing of the historically black Prince Hall Masonic lodges which has apparently gone on. I just noticed and reverted one deletion. It is an important valid category, needs to be repopulated. --Doncram (talk) 13:42, 20 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
Yes... but... it needs to be repopulated with APPROPRIATE articles - Articles that are actually about notable Prince Hall LODGES as opposed to articles that are about their buildings. We have had this discussion before. A LODGE is not a building. A Lodge MEETS in a building. A notable LODGE can meet in a non-notable building... and a notable building can house non-notable LODGES. Conflating the two into one category results in inaccurate over-categorization. Blueboar (talk) 14:19, 20 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

OK... I have started the ball rolling by creating an article on the original African Lodge No. 459... from which all Prince Hall lodges trace their descent. Now the category is not empty, and we can repopulate it appropriately. Blueboar (talk) 15:18, 20 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
