Scope of this category
editSeems to be entirely wrong to me. There are two totally distinct issues. There are the groups that wish to abolish the monarchy, yet still remain part of the United Kingdom. Then there are the groups that wish to achieve independence from the United Kingdom. Despite them sharing a common word of "republican" they are very different.
If Irish republicanism really has to be included in this category, I suggest it is only organisations that are placed in the category, or people who campaigned without an organisation. One Night In Hackney303 23:21, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
- From the article Republicanism in the United Kingdom:
- "Republicanism in the United Kingdom is a movement in the United Kingdom which seeks to remove the British monarchy and replace it with a republic that has a non-hereditary head of state."
- All of the Irish people that that have been added by User:Peter Clarke seek/sought independence for Ireland and have expressed no opinion whatever on republicanism in the United Kingdom. There is no way any of them belong in this category. I have asked Peter Clarke to revert his edits. Scolaire 23:28, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
- It seems between several of us they've all been reverted anyway. BastunBaStun not BaTsun 11:02, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
