Category talk:Trick shot artists

Purpose of category

I am utterly confused about the description of this page. How is a "trick shot competition pro" different from a "player of artistic pool"? Artistic pool tournaments, by definition, would be a competition, and there are payouts, so competitors can consider themselves professional. Further, there are players who completely specialize in trick shots and do not enter other cue sport competitions, so the opening paragraph needs clarification. --15:06, 15 August 2008 (UTC)Techin (talk)

It says it quite clearly: "Players of artistic billiards or artistic pool; these should be in their own subcategories under this category and the appropriate Category:Cue sports players category (carom and pool, respectively)". So far no specialists in either discipline have articles here. If they do, they'd go in a category for such players. There are all sorts of trick shot competitions (Trick Shot Magic, etc.) that have nothing to do with the established, regulated programs of either artistic pool or artistic billiards. Many trick shot artists (W. C. Fields, etc.) pre-date both disciplines, and should not be listed under them. Someone like Mike Massey should be listed here and under Category:Players of artistic pool (when there are enough player articles that would go under that category to justify the category's creation), since he is notable for both strict artistic pool and free-style trick shot demonstrations and competitons. — SMcCandlish [talk] [cont] ‹(-¿-)› 22:58, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
