What is the actual Wikipedia policy on listing "municipalities and communities"? The neighborhoods (some with and some without histories as independent villages) within such Lake County cities as Gary and East Chicago (for example) are covered on those cities' pages but not mentioned as "unincorporated communities" in the boxes at the bottom of each Lake County place's page. On the other hand, Ainsworth, Deep River, and Green Acres, which have each been annexed into other incorporated cities (as is even mentioned) are separately included in those same boxes as "unincorporated communities". What gives? Obviously none of them are actually "unincorporated" but, as the "Category:Unincorporated communities in Indiana" claims that its listed places "are within the political jurisdiction of other municipalities"!, maybe Wikipedia wants all those city neighborhoods included in those boxes, too. Which is it? Or is it supposed to be both ways, as it is now, without rhyme or reason? IanHistor (talk) 23:53, 5 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

I think this is more a list of pages in this specific category, not necessarily including each of them as "unincorporated communities," but maybe just related to the category? I think a separate page, "List of Unincorporated communities in Indiana" would better suit the role of determining which is which. Anton.hung (talk) 06:26, 15 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
