Appropriateness of term

I'm not sure that "viceroy of the British monarch" is the appropriate term. Officially, it is not the British monarch (bearing that title) who is the monarch of each Commonwealth realm. The Queen of Australia (for example) is the same person as the Queen of the United Kingdom, and she is the former because she is the latter, but she is not Queen of Australia as British monarch. She is Queen of Australia as Australian monarch. The distinction may appear slight, but as an encyclopedia, we should strive to be accurate. Aridd (talk) 22:40, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

I agree; it is most certainly not academic, but a very real distinction. The category is a travesty in a number of other ways, too (I've just corrected one). I would likely be in favour of any reasonable name change, but can't think of anything suitable. What unites them is that they are 'Viceroys of Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom' (following the convention that one names categories in the same manner as one names the articles). However, the categories contain 'viceroys' that predate Elizabeth, and will contain those that survive Her Majesty: making that particular formula untenable. Suggestions?
