Download article as clean html

edit

If articles are to be useful as textbook contents, they need to be in a format that is easy to use and reformat as necessary.

  • First, the "download pdf" is nearly useless, because the pdf text cannot easily be changed to be put in a textbook.
  • Second, the option of going into "reveal codes" to capture the html code is also not a good way to do it; the page code is bloated with all sorts of things.

I seem to recall that Wikipedia once had a "download html" link that would provide only the article itself with cleaned-up code, graphics, and footnotes but nothing else. (No links to other wikipedia articles, no left-hand column, no stuff at the top of the page, minimalist code, and minimalist css, etc.)

Why could it not be reinstated?

Linking

edit

Is there a way to make all the articles with an infobox link into a category just by having the infobox?? --The Judge 12:04, 6 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Correction & question

edit

What is an orphan (in relation to wikipedia)? floodbud ...my talk page

Orphan is a page without links. It is a problem as people who search that concept might make a page with a synonim as they assumed it does not exist. it is quite common. -Squid

Merging page histories

edit

I like to write things in a sandbox and then move them over to mainspace later, as I rarely write enough in a single sitting to make a new article upon its initial creation look any good. Now that I have moved it to mainspace, how do I clean up the edit history to accurately reflect all the edits made for this article (and only those edits, not the previous ones on other articles written in the sandbox)? AFL-CIO

edit

I recently worked for a group called Working America. They take union dues and are supported by the AFL-CIO. Not only myself, but many people who worked for Working America, were terminated for not reaching a certain quota. That meant that we had to get at least 28 people to talk to us and answer all the questions we asked about who they would vote for in the upcoming election between Mitch McConnell and Allison Grimes. We were promoting Allison Grimes. Not only were we held accountable for how many people would answer their door and talk to us- not under our control- but no one came to check on us when we were out canvassing to see if we were safe, no one came to give us a restroom break. We were expected to ask total strangers to let us in to their homes and use the restroom. Dangerous for us possibly.

When I contacted the local representative for the AFL-CIO, I never received a response. The same with Allison Grimes campaign office and Working Americas headquarters.

For all their talk of being for the working people, none of them really care or there would be a change. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.129.98.214 (talk) 17:35, 3 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Difference to Category:Wikipedia tutorials?

edit

What exactly is the difference between this category's content and Category:Wikipedia tutorials'?

If there is none they should be merged. (In this case we should decide upon the target category.)

Support merge Barring a distinction that is not immediately apparent. NewsAndEventsGuy (talk) 00:08, 15 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
