Political Parties
editAre there any good guidelines for the inclusion of political parties? I ask primarily because there are a large number of parties that show up, run a single candidate (or a very small number of candidates) at an election, and then vanish (or that act as vehicles for a candidate who never comes close to being elected). This particularly tends to be the case in a number of Commonwealth countries (i.e. the UK, Canada, Australia, etc.), and I think it would be productive to merge the pages on a large number of these parties into a "Minor parties in (insert country)" article.
To offer an example, at the last UK General Election there are 24 parties that received between 500 and 2000 votes. Of these, only a handful would seem to merit their own pages (the Communist Party and the Scottish Senior Citizens Party [Which won a seat in the Scottish Parliament in 2003] come to mind), and many have notability notices on their pages.Tyrenon (talk) 23:44, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
