Biography
editCosti is the nephew of Benny Hinn and grew up following and later working with him. Costi came out of prosperity theology in 2012 and soon began serving in ministry at Mission Bible Church in Orange County, CA. After being trained, he was called to pastoral ministry and was hired as the Executive Pastor at Mission Bible Church. In 2017, he wrote about his rejection of Hinn's prosperity gospel in a Christianity Today article, "I wept bitterly over my participation in greedy ministry manipulation and my life of false teaching and beliefs.[2] In 2018, he co-wrote Defining Deception with Mission Bible Church's Teaching Pastor Tony G. Wood.[3][4]
He has continued writing with a focus on the Prosperity Gospel and the Holy Spirit. He followed Defining Deception in 2019 with, God, Greed, and the (Prosperity) Gospel, about his upbringing in the Hinn family.[5][6] In 2021 he wrote, More Than a Healer to promote biblical teaching on healing.[7] He followed this up in 2023 with Knowing the Spirit, about the person and work of the Holy Spirit.[8]
Hinn studied at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and is currently completing his doctorate at The Master's Seminary.[9][10]
