David Dragoo is an American entrepreneur and businessman. Dragoo earned a degree with honors from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2009, where he also participated in NCAA varsity athletics as an Academic All-America in golf.[1]
Career

David Dragoo is the founder of Mayfly, a Colorado-based company[2] and Certified B® Corporation.[3] The company specializes in manufacturing high-end fly fishing equipment, including brands Abel®, Ross Reels®, Airflo®, Renzetti®, and Dyna-King.
In 2015, Mayfly relocated to Montrose, Colorado where it exists today.[4][5]
Colorado Outdoors Project
editIn 2017, Dragoo initiated the Colorado Outdoors project, a 164-acre mixed-use development[6] in Montrose designed to attract businesses, many focused on outdoor recreation.[7][8] The project integrates residential, commercial, and industrial spaces, with a specific emphasis on sustainability[9] and community development.[10]
The large project[11] is also part of the Montrose Urban Renewal Authority (MURA).[12] Businesses in the project include manufacturing Shelter Distilling[13] and Secret Creek[14]
The development is located along the Uncompahgre River, which underwent significant restoration[15] as part of the project and later became a CPW designated Colorado Quality Waters.[16]
Economic Development
editDragoo's work in Colorado has been recognized for its contribution to Montrose's economic growth and diversification.[17][18] In 2019, he was appointed to the Colorado Economic Development Commission, where he works with the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) to promote economic opportunities across the state.
