Deep Thoughts (Lil Durk album)

Deep Thoughts is the upcoming ninth studio album by American rapper Lil Durk. It is scheduled to be released through Only the Family, Alamo Records and Sony Music on November 22, 2024.[1] The album will follow-up his eighth studio album Almost Healed, and Nightmares in the Trenches (both 2023), a collaborative compilation album with his hip hop group and record label Only the Family (OTF). It is also expected to be his first album released from jail; him and five other OTF affiliates were arrested on October 25, 2024, in relation to a murder-for-hire case.[2]

Background and promotion

edit

On December 11, 2023, Durk announced that he had begun working on his next album.[3] On January 22, 2024, Durk announced that his next album would be Love Songs 4 the Streets 3.[4] On February 23, Durk released "Old Days".[5] On June 28, he released the track, "Went Hollywood for a Year".[6]

On September 25, Durk released the album's lead single, "Turn Up a Notch".[7] On October 1, an unverified tracklist surfaced online for Love Songs 4 the Streets 3,[8] previewing 12 tracks and unconfirmed features from Future, Kai Cenat, Lil Baby, Morgan Wallen, Rod Wave, Sabrina Carpenter, and IShowSpeed.[9] However, upon the release of the album's second single, "Monitoring Me" on October 4, the tracklist was confirmed fake.[10] Furthermore, Durk announced the release of the album alongside the release of the single.[11]

On October 25, Durk was arrested along with five affiliates of his record label and collective Only the Family in connection to a murder-for-hire case targeted towards fellow American rapper and rival Quando Rondo; this was in retaliation for the murder of his close friend and collaborator King Von by one of Rondo's crew members. It is unclear if this will affect the album's release.[12]
