Diol–Beye family murders

A Senegalese-American Diol family of five, including an infant member of the Beye family, were found dead in their Northeast Denver, Colorado house, which was set ablaze on August 5, 2020. The family died from the flames. Suspected mastermind Kevin Bui, then 16, and two other males were charged in connection with the crime. Bui's sister was also charged in connection with the attack.

Initially, authorities believed that the family was a target of a racially motivated hate crime. However, this was later ruled out.

It is believed by police that Bui and others were targeting a house in the Green Valley Ranch neighborhood where they believed an iPhone of one of theirs was stolen, and that the address linked in the phone had the wrong house in question. Bui and company set ablaze the house, killing Djibril Diol, 29, and Adja Diol, 23 and their 22-month-old daughter, Khadija Diol were killed in the blaze. Djibril's sister, Hassan Diol, 25, and her 6-month-old daughter Hawa Beye also died in the fire. Bui faces up to 60 years in prison; another then-teenage male, Gavin Seymour, was given 40 years.[1][2][3]
