Background
editIn August 2018, I Dont Know How But They Found Me was signed to Fearless Records, following the success of their singles "Modern Day Cain" and "Choke".[2] Shortly after the announcement of this, the band released "Do It All the Time",[3] releasing as a double A-side single alongside a remastered version of "Choke".[4]
The song was recorded in Los Angeles in July of 2018 without any prior live performance. Hysteria Magazine noted the song as "a send up of the entitled attitude that has permeated our society",[5] while Music Connection described it as a "critique of the very popular "Do What Thou Wilt" philosophy that seems all too common today".[6]
Music videos
editAlongside the single's release, a lyric video for "Do It All the Time" was released, showing the lyrics changing color as they're sung with the cover art above it.[7]
On October 12, 2018, a music video directed by Raúl Gonzo was released for the song.[8] The video features band members Dallon Weekes and Ryan Seaman performing vocals, synthesizer, and drums on an orange backdrop while several mannequins behind them hold brass instruments. The song appears programmed, as several instruments are switched on and off with Seaman later using a clipboard and camera to document Weekes' guitar performance.[9] In the video's YouTube description, the band fictionally describes it as a conceptual art piece that had been used in public school curriculums from 1964 to 1984.[10]
