History
editDr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune, established on January 11, 2003, including Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre, was granted the status of a deemed-to-be university[3] under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act, 1956 by the Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development.[4]
P. D. Patil serves as the chancellor of Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune,[5] with Bhagyashree Patil as the pro-chancellor and Yashraj Patil as the trustee and treasurer.[6] Patil has contributed to the university's development and, in 2024, was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 36th Pune Festival,[7] presented by Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister, Ajit Pawar.[8]

editAccording to the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024, published by the Ministry of Education, DPU ranked 5th in the Dental category, 11th in the Medical category,[9] and 44th among universities in India.[10] The university achieved a score of 64.10 in the Medical category.[11]
