The 192nd Ordnance Battalion (EOD) is the command and control headquarters for eight subordinate U.S. Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Companies. It is a specialized unit within the United States Army responsible for the detection, identification, recovery, and disposal of explosive ordnance. This battalion has a distinguished history, serving in various capacities from World War II through the present day, with a focus on countering explosive threats in both combat and peacetime operations.. The current command team consists of Lieutenant Colonel Elizabeth Schwemmer and Command Sergeant Major Jason Topping. .^[1] Subordinate units maintain EOD Response Teams, which evaluate, render safe, and remove conventional, chemical/biological, or nuclear ordnance, or improvised explosive devices (IEDs) which pose an immediate threat to public safety. While subordinate units are trained and equipped for combat operations, they may also support a variety of peacetime missions, to include range surface clearance operations of active U.S. Army installations, EOD and UXO operations in support of civilian law enforcement agencies, and support to the U.S. Secret Service for protection of VIPs.^[2]

Mission

On order, 192nd OD BN (EOD) deploys and conducts operations ISO Combatant Commanders or other government agencies to counter explosive, CBRNE and WMD threats. They are also charged with the Home Land Response of military munitions for disposal and/or render safe along the entirety of the east coast or America.
