5v5 Soccer
edit5v5 Soccer (see: five-a-side football) is a variation of five-a-side football (soccer) played in the United States. 5v5 Soccer is played with four players and one goalkeeper, with a max roster of 10 players. Games are 24 minutes in length, with two 12 minute halves and a one minute half time. Teams play at least four games in a one-day tournament. Top teams compete annually at the 5v5 Soccer National Championships held annually in Florida.
Format
edit5v5 Soccer is a one day tournament generally played in the "off season" of Winter or Summer. Tournaments may be held in an outdoor venue where an 11v11 field is sectioned off into four 5v5 Soccer fields. The field dimensions are generally 30 yards wide by 40 yards long, depending on the facility. Teams play at least four games, with teams finishing in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place receiving medals. Teams who receive medals are also invited to compete in the annual 5v5 Soccer National Championship which is held in Florida.[1]
Tournaments
edit5v5 Soccer runs tournaments all across the United States of America. In 2021, 5v5 Soccer ran 47 tournaments across the country with 1,400 teams competing. In 2022, 5v5 Soccer ran 51 tournaments with 1,600 teams competing. In 2023, 5v5 Soccer ran 71 tournaments with 2,300 teams competing. In 2024, 5v5 Soccer has run 95 tournaments with over 2,900 teams competing.[2]
Fundraising Efforts
edit5v5 Soccer partners with local partners in the soccer community to "Host" a 5v5 Soccer tournament. This allows clubs the opportunity to raise funds for their local soccer community by providing an additional soccer tournament. The local club helps to promote the event, and a portion of the revenue from each tournament is donated back to the local soccer community.[3]
