ALLRAIL or Alliance of Passenger Rail New Entrants is an association bringing together independent passenger rail transport companies operating in Europe and around the world.

History

edit

ALLRAIL was founded in Brussels (Belgium) in 2017. The association is also part of the official Group of Representative Bodies of the railway sector within the European Union.[1]

Organisation

Activity

edit

As a lobby and public affairs non-profit organisation, ALLRAIL promotes the interests of its members with the institutions of the European Union and national institutions of the member states, Norway and Switzerland as well as increasingly around the world. More specifically, ALLRAIL advocates for a faster opening of the passenger rail transport market in Europe, pursuant to the Fourth Railway Package, in order to facilitate the entry of private and independent railway companies[2].

ALLRAIL promotes trains as a sustainable alternative to cars or planes. In order to achieve this objective, ALLRAIL supports more competition between rail operators [3]. ALLRAIL argues that competition leads to lower prices and better quality of service[4]. As a member of the official GRB (Group of Rail Representative Bodies in the European Union), it also supports and actively collaborates with the other fellow recognised rail bodies in order to push for more interoperability and standardisation of the European railway infrastructure[5].

ALLRAIL also advocates in favour of transparency and simplification of digital ticket distribution in passenger transport to ensure better exposure for new entrant rail operators and larger choice for travellers[6] [7].

ALLRAIL supports more, easier and better financing and access to long-distance rolling stock for new entrants[8] [9]
