A Sword Named Truth[1][2] is a fantasy novel by Sherwood Smith, published in 2019. It is the first book of the Rise of the Alliance series and a continuation of Smith's books set in the world of Sartorias-Deles.
Summary
editIn the world of Sartorias Deles, members of the ancient evil called Norsunder have begun to reappear after centuries of silence. Young people around the world, many of which are monarchs on unstable thrones, form an alliance to combat this. Senrid is king of the militant Marloven Hess where he faces immense pressure from his Jarls. Atan is queen of Sartor, the oldest country in the world. Jilo steps into the vacant throne of Chwahirsland which has been riddled with dark magic and famine by its previous ruler. Clair rules the small, rural Mearsies Heili. They must learn to trust and cooperate with each other if they are to face the vast power of Norsunder.
Characters
editSenrid Montredaun-An: Young, newly crowned king of Marloven Hess. He takes the place of his uncle who collaborated with Norsunder. He is practical and level-headed with skill in dark magic.
Liere: A girl who removed a malicious enchantment from the Norsundrian Siamis. She is learning to control her mysterious mind powers called Dena Yeresbeth.
Atan: Queen of Sartor, the oldest country in the world.
Jilo: Former apprentice to the Norsundrian Kwenz Sonscarna who takes the throne of Chwahirsland when Kwenz dies and the country's ruler vanishes. He uses his knowledge of dark magic to slowly begin dismantling the evil magic over the country.
Clair: Queen of Mearsies Heili, a small and rural kingdom.
Hibern: Marloven mage student apprenticed to Erai-Yanya.
Tsauderei: An old, reclusive light mage who allows the newfound Alliance to use the valley he lives in as a refuge.
Erai-Yanya: Mage living in an old ruin who has taken in Hibern as an apprentice.
The Mearsian Girls: CJ, Seshe, Diana, Dhana, Irenne, Fallineh/Kitty, Sherry
