Dr. Abdul Hameed VP
edit(Born: October 1, 1952) is an Indian sociologist, educator, and advocate. He is known for his contributions to the study of social change among the Mappila community in Kerala and his extensive involvement in public service and education. Dr. Hameed has held several significant positions, including as a member of the Kerala Public Service Commission and as the Principal of VPKMM Higher Secondary School.
Early Life and Education
editDr. Abdul Hameed was born in Malappuram, Kerala. He earned his Ph.D. in Sociology from Mangalore University, Karnataka. His doctoral thesis, titled "Social Change Among Mappilas: A Case Study of Malabar Region", explored the dynamics of social transformation within the Mappila Muslim community of Kerala.
He holds multiple academic qualifications, including:

Career
editDr. Hameed has had a distinguished career spanning various fields, including education, public service, and governance. From 2004 to 2010, he served as a Member of the Kerala Public Service Commission (KPSC), where he also held roles as the Editor of the PSC Bulletin, Chairman of the Litigation Committee, and Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee.
In addition, he was actively involved in the governance of the University of Calicut, where he served as a Member of the Syndicate, Senate, and Academic Council. He also chaired the university’s Syndicate Finance Committee.
As the Principal of VPKMM Higher Secondary School in Puthur Pallikkal, Dr. Hameed led an institution with more than 100 teachers and 3,000 students. His leadership was instrumental in shaping the academic and administrative direction of the school.
Dr. Hameed has also worked as an Assistant Project Officer in the Literacy Programme under the Government of Kerala.

editDr. Hameed has been deeply involved in local governance. He served as:

- Chairman of the Standing Committee of Kondotty Block Panchayat (1995-2000)
