Acai Travel Inc. is an American travel technology company that develops artificial intelligence software for automating customer service and back-office operations at travel management companies (TMCs), online travel agencies (OTAs), and airlines. Founded in 2023 and headquartered in New York City, the company won the TravelTech Show Trailblazer Award in 2025 and the Business Travel Innovation Faceoff at Business Travel Show Europe in 2026.[1][2]

History

[edit]

Acai Travel was founded in 2023 by Riccardo Vittoria, Henry Chen Weinstein, and Pavel Pratyush.[3][4] Vittoria had previously co-founded 30SecondsToFly, an artificial intelligence corporate travel booking startup acquired by American Express Global Business Travel in 2020.[5]

In July 2024, Pennsylvania-based travel management company World Travel Inc. deployed Acai's technology, beginning with automated email routing and responses, reporting an expected initial productivity gain of approximately four percent.[6]

In November 2024, the company raised US$4 million in seed funding led by Nauta Capital, with participation from DraperB1 and One Travel Ventures.[5] The same month, Acai announced a partnership with Hopper to support the travel app's customer service agents with AI tools.[7]

In May 2025, Amadeus made a minority investment in the company through its corporate venture arm, Amadeus Ventures, bringing Acai's total funding to approximately US$4.5 million; the terms of the investment were not disclosed.[8][9]

In 2026, corporate travel agency Direct Travel selected Acai's email automation technology following a competitive evaluation against Oversee.[10]

Products

[edit]

Acai Travel develops agentic AI systems for travel operations, focused primarily on the post-booking phase of travel, such as itinerary changes, cancellations, flight disruptions, and unused ticket management.[4][3] The company's platform includes a customer-facing front-office agent, an AI supervisor that oversees contact center operations, and a back-office agent that performs tasks within global distribution systems, including processing cancellations, itinerary changes, splitting passenger name records, and managing multi-source bookings under corporate and airline policies.[3]

At the 2026 Business Travel Innovation Faceoff, the company demonstrated capabilities including policy-based decision-making, adaptation to new rules and exceptions, and management of flight disruptions incorporating airline waivers and traveler preferences.[2]

The company operates on a software as a service model.[3] Its customers have included Kiwi.com, Altour, Globespan Travel Management, World Travel Inc., and Direct Travel.[5][6][10]
