Adedoyin Adeleke is a Nigerian Green Growth (Renewable Energy) Specialist, and a Mechanical Engineer,[1] who works at the interplay of science, policy and practice on green growth (green economy). He founded Green Growth Africa Sustainability Network (Green Growth Africa), Ibadan, Nigeria, formerly International Support Network for African Development (ISNAD-Africa)[2][3][4][5]. Co-author of the Progress Report on Climate Technology 2023[6]. He is a Member of Global Environmental Education Partnership, Africa Hub Interim Leadership Team, a Fellow, UNESCO Chair in Energy for Sustainable Development, Politecnico di Milano, Italy, and Fellow, 69th UNEP/UNESCO/BMUB International Short Course on Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, Dresden, Germany[7][8]. Adedoyin Adeleke has served as a Judge for the UL Innovative Education Award, Washington DC, U.S.A.

Early Life and Education

Adedoyin Adeleke went to Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, where he graduated with a B.sc in Mechanical Engineering[3], and a multidisciplinary master’s degree in Energy Studies (with specialisation in Renewable Energy) at the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria, followed by an International Short Course in Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency at the Centre for International Postgraduate Studies of Environmental Management (CIPSEM) in Technische Universität Dresden, Dresden, Germany.[9][10]. Adedoyin went further to obtain a PhD in Energy and Nuclear Science and Technology (Energy for Sustainable Development) in Politecnico di Milano, Italy.[11]

Career

Adedoyin served as a Lead Country Contributor to Renewable Energy Policy Network for the 21st Century's (REN21) [4]four consecutive annual reports, "Global Status Report" on renewable energy for years 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020.[12] He also served as a Country Contributor to the second edition of UNEP's 1 Gigaton Report on Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency in 2018[7]. In 2023, Adedoyin was one of the 33 scientists from around the world who prepared the 2023 Climate Technology Progress Report [6]published by UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre, UN Climate Changes, United Nations Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) and UN Climate Change Technology Executive Committee. He served as a Reviewer of UNESCO's Country Profile for Nigeria on Climate Communication and Education.[13] A Contributing Author to the Global Environment Outlook - 7 (GEO - 7) report to be published by UNEP.
