Professor Osuntogun Caleb Adeniyi (born April 14, 1943) is a renowned Nigerian Agricultural Economist, known for his extensive work in agricultural development, environmental sustainability, and cooperative studies. Early Life and Education

Osuntogun was born in Nigeria. He attended Olu-Iwa College, Ijebu-Ode, and Muslim College, Ijebu-Ode, before obtaining a B.Sc. in Economics from the University of Ibadan in 1967. He furthered his education at the University of Leeds, U.K., where he earned a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics in 1971.

Professional Career

Osuntogun began his career as a teacher at Christ Apostolic Grammar School, Iperu Remo, and later worked as a manager-in-training at United Bank for Africa Limited. He served as a research officer at the Central Bank of Nigeria before moving into academia. At Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Nigeria, he progressed from lecturer to senior lecturer, and eventually to professor of Agricultural Economics. He served as Vice-Chancellor of the university from 1990 to 1991.

He has held significant leadership roles, including Director/Chief Executive of the Foundation for Environmental Development and Education in Nigeria (FEDEN) and Regional Programme Director for the Leadership for Environment and Development Programme (LEAD) for Anglophone West Africa. He has been the Chairman of the Governing Board of LEAD Anglophone West Africa since 2019. Since 2004, he has been the Founder/Chairman of the Resource Integrated Development Foundation (RIDF).

He has been actively involved in international organizations, serving as a member of the Governing Board of the West African Science Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL) and as an elected Vice Chairman of the Governing Board. He has also been a resource person at numerous international conferences and training sessions.
