editDr. Akbar Nasir Khan is a Civil Servant and a member of the Police Service of Pakistan since 1999. He holds a Doctorate of Business Administration from the University of Portsmouth UK, MPA from the Harvard Kennedy School, USA, LLM from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London UK and a double bachelors in Engineering and Arts from University of Engineering and Technology Lahore and Islamia University Bahawalpur, Pakistan. He has served in the federal government and provincial governments of the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Pakistan. Akbar Nasir Khan was honored with the Tamgha-i-Shujaat (Civil Gallantry Award) for leading the operation against criminals involved in terrorism, murder, and other crimes across the country.
Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan is an author who write and contribute for national newspapers on politics, accountability, rule of law and governance. His first production was Urdu Feature Film " Daal Chaawal".
He also served as a peacekeeper for the United Nations mission in Sudan and Kosovo. He has worked with UNDP Pakistan as a Governance Advisor in Pakistan. He is certified trainer from UNDP and UNODC and has designed and implemented training in various cultural settings. He was a key member of the committee; which prepared the First National Internal Security Policy (NISP-1) of Pakistan in 2014 and he was also instrumental in the reformation of National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) during 2013-2015 Dr. Khan was the founding Chief Operating Officer of the Punjab Safe Cities Authorities from 2015 to 2020. As the Project Director, he has completed multiple projects for Punjab Police during this tenure. He is a member of the Judicial Commission for Environment in Punjab. He has been decorated with Tamgha i Shujat and Quaid-e-Azam Police medal by the Government of Pakistan. He has served as Inspector General of Police Islamabad from May 2022 to April 2024.
