Al Khayyat Investments (AKI) is a privately held Emirati holding company based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. AKI has approximately 7,000 employees across nine countries in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.[1]

Background

AKI was established in 1982 by Dr. Saad F. Al Khayyat. It has grown from a single pharmaceutical company in Dubai into a diversified business operating across multiple sectors including pharmaceuticals, medical and laboratory equipment, retail, food and non-food consumer goods, fitness, automotive, environmental services, and contracting.[2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9]

Divisions

The company is currently organised into the business lines of AKI Healthcare, AKI Consumer Goods, AKI Retail, AKI Fitness & Lifestyle, AKI Contracting, AKI Environmental Services, and AKI Automotive.[10][5]

AKI Healthcare includes BinSina Pharmacy, the UAE’s first pharmacy chain, AKI Pharma, which distributes an extensive range of pharmaceutical products, and AKI Medlab which supplies medical equipment and medical consumables to healthcare providers.[11][12][13][14][15][16]

Established in 1994, AKI Consumer Goods has been a go-to-market partner for brands such as Coca-Cola, L'Oréal, Nestlé, SharkNinja and Reckitt, supporting the sale and distribution of their products in the Middle East.[17][18][19][20]

AKI Retail provides retail channels for global brands in fashion, fitness, and F&B, including brands like Holland & Barrett, Superdry, Petit Bateau, and Nanàn.[21][22]

Established in 1989, AKI Fitness & Lifestyle provides fitness, sports, and leisure solutions for home and commercial use.

AKI Contracting offers engineering, civil works, and landscaping services. In 2007, AKI acquired Gulf Landscaping & Irrigation Systems, later rebranding it as Gulf Contracting & Landscaping (GCL) under AKI Contracting.[6][23]

AKI Environmental Services is a provider of integrated environmental services in the UAE including waste management and pest control services.

Established in 1996, AKI Automotive serves as the exclusive dealer for Mazda in Jordan.[24]
