Early life

edit

Named after Alanis Morissette, Sophia showed a large interest and a talent in music and performing from an early age. At age eleven, she auditioned in Season 1 of Telemundo’s La Voz Kids and placed runner-up in 2013.[2]

In 2014, shortly after the show, she debuted her single "Dulce Fantasia," followed by a series of cover singles. Later that year, she became an ambassador for Visit Florida, which lasted for four consecutive years, promoting Floridian tourism.[3]

At sixteen, she was discovered by Grammy award winning producer Julian Raymond and Big Machine Label Group CEO Scott Borchetta through a YouTube cover video of Selena Quintanilla's "Bidi Bidi Bom," which ultimately began her career as a co-writer for Raymond. She has co-written songs by critically acclaimed musicians, including Sugarland’s Kristian Bush, Katie Cole, Danielle Brisbois, Jeff Trott, and Bobby Tomberlin. She was signed as a recording artist and songwriter with Big Machine Records. She is endorsed by Gibson Guitar and Roland.[4] [5] [6]

American Idol

edit

In 2021, at the age of nineteen, Sophia auditioned for the nineteenth season of American Idol in Los Angeles, California, with Demi Lovato's "Anyone." In the Top 24 rounds, Sophia performed with country music star and fellow Idol alum Jimmie Allen. She placed Top 16 in the semifinals before elimination. [7] [8] [9]

Acting career

edit

Sophia has been in several commercials such as Clean and Clear and TelCel. In 2022, she was cast in a lead role as Esmerelda in Dennis DeYoung’s rendition of The Hunchback of Notre Dame. [10][11][12]
