Alise Trautmane-Uzuner
editAlise Trautmane-Uzuner (born October 13, 1980, in Riga, Latvia) is a Latvian designer[1], entrepreneur, educator, and the Founder and CEO of DOORS NYC.[2]
Early Life and Education
editAlise Trautmane-Uzuner was born in Riga, Latvia. She pursued her passion for fashion design and relocated to New York City in 2015. Trautmane-Uzuner honed her skills at Parsons The New School for Design, graduating in 2017.[3]
Career
editFashion Design
editTrautmane-Uzuner gained recognition in the fashion industry with her womenswear fashion brand, NARCISS.[4][5] She was awarded "Designer of the Year" by the Baltic Fashion Federation on three occasions.[6]
Entrepreneurship
editIn her entrepreneurial journey, Trautmane-Uzuner co-founded and managed DREEMS (Dreams on Air)[7], a self-funded membership-based fashion platform.[8] Following this, she founded DOORS NYC, a membership-based omnichannel platform offering serviced retail, PR, and e-commerce for independent fashion and accessories designers to grow their brands in the United States.[9] The DOORS NYC concept store and PR showroom are located in New York's SoHo district.[10]
In addition to the flagship store and PR showroom in SoHo, DOORS NYC has executed experiential fashion, art, and beauty pop-ups at other venues in NYC[11] [12] and West Hollywood, Los Angeles.[13] [14]
Teaching
editAlongside her role at DOORS NYC, Trautmane-Uzuner teaches Fashion Public Relations at Parsons The New School for Design.[15] She is also a visiting professor at Iéseg School of Management, teaching at the Fashion Business Summer Program in Paris, France.[16]
Other Roles
editTrautmane-Uzuner serves as the Regional Co-Director in New York for the Latvian American Chamber of Commerce.[17]
Awards and Recognition
editTrautmane-Uzuner has received the "Designer of the Year" award from the Baltic Fashion Federation three times for her work with NARCISS.[6]
