Alphabet Lore, also known as Alphabet: The Series is an animated web series and first season of the series of the same name created by Mike Salcedo, the series is based on the Latin alphabet. It was originally a "one animation per day" project for a whole month according to him. But due to its extreme popularity, it continued on. It currently has a second season and sequel series called Number Lore: Part 1, which premiered on January 23, 2023. It will have a third season called Number Lore: Part 2 coming in 2025.
Plot
editThe first video involves the letters going on a quest to stop the evil F from killing all the others as vengeance for them mistreating him as a child.
The second and third videos have the letters trying to stop the alien numbers from taking X, who holds the asterisk gem, and later, the letters will have to go after F in space after he stole the numbers' calculator-shaped spacecraft, as well as rescue L and g on the journey.
Characters
editLetters:
A - The first letter of the Latin alphabet. He is colored red. He is the tritagonist of the first video. When forming "CAB" with C and B, he becomes a taxi driver. In the original video, he witnesses L in his super form saving him, B, C and G's lives when F attempts to vaporize the four with I, making A blush and he later witnesses C's demise at F's hands and gets stuck in F's black slime, but was freed when N defeats F. In Number Lore, he uses V as a makeshift glider when they chased the Calculator Ship.
B - The second letter of the Latin alphabet. He is colored periwinkle blue. He resembles a butterfly, and his curved parts of his body acts as a pair of wings, thus enabling him to fly. He was rendered flightless twice: first in the "U" episode of Alphabet Lore, where F violently pulls his wings off in front of A, and in the "2" episode of Number Lore, where 2 shot holes into them as B attempted to save M. When forming CAB, his eyes and body become the window and wheels.
C - The third letter of the Latin alphabet. He is colored light golden yellow. His curved body has rows of teeth, which he uses to bite foes. He was shredded alive by F in the U episode. He appears to resemble a clam or a cuttlefish. He has yet to physically appear on Number Lore outside of a flashback. When forming CAB, he becomes the vehicle. He is the distant brother of G, as well as the distant brother in-law to P and g's distant uncle. according to Geoff Galneda.
D - The fourth letter of the Latin alphabet. He is colored grass green. He resembles a lime slice due to color and the shape of his body. He is the first of the letters that spell the word "FRIENDS" to be captured by F. He has yet to appear on Number Lore.
E - The fifth letter of the Latin alphabet. He is colored teal. The top part of his head resembles the pompadour hairstyle of the late Elvis Presley. He is the second of the letters that spell the word "FRIENDS" to be captured by F. In Number Lore, he and A are shown to be rivals and he, B, I and K formed "BIKE", which is a motorcycle word and he chases after the numbers on it and he fights 4 with help from O after O saved BIKE from crashing and he witnesses the Calculator Ship take off in space.
F - The sixth letter of the Latin alphabet and the main antagonist and tragic villain of the first video. He is colored jet black. He was N's former best friend as a lowercase letter until the day where L and O made him spell the word "frick", causing the other letters to attack F to the point of shattering his teeth into fangs, and he ran into his cave, where he plots to kill the letters as revenge. He was defeated by N in the "Y" episode when he shot through his chest with his rainbow laser beam. He has sharp teeth, which used to be normal human-like teeth until J shot them with his dot, shattering them, and he uses his fangs to bite others. He also has the ability to spew black ink-like slime to trap letters as well. In Number Lore, he steals the Calculator Ship and has L and (possibly) G Jr. as his prisoners. He also happens to be less evil than he originally was, and is the protagonist of his own storyline.
G - The seventh letter of the Latin alphabet and the supposed main protagonist, later deuteragonist of the first video. He is colored dark purple. He is P's boyfriend and later husband in Number Lore. He is also the father of g and N's mentor in the original video. During the original video, he helps U and N make the word "GUN", which sadly costed P's life, and he was stuck in F's black sludge before he was freed by N after F's defeat. He seems to have a smaller role in Number Lore, but he later gains a bigger role when he reunites with P, still trapped in her cube, after he witnesses his son, g, being taken by the numbers, and they go off together to save him and they, along with the other letters, helplessly witness the calculator ship take off in space with L, their son, g, and F in it. According to Geoff Galneda, he is the distant brother of C.
g - The infant lowercase son of G and P who debuted in Number Lore. He looks exactly like his father, G, when he was lowercase. Just like his father, he is colored dark purple. He was saved by his mother, P, in his debut appearance after he hit 3, causing 3 to send him flying away, at the cost of her being trapped in a yellow cube, and he was later abducted by the numbers and had to saved by BIKE and he ends up being trapped on the calculator ship. He is sometimes referred to as G Jr. by fans. He is the distant nephew of C.
H - The eighth letter of the Latin alphabet. They are colored pale green. They were farted out of existence by F in their debut episode. When the letters were lowercase, they used to be a normal lowercase letter until F's "fart" prank on L caused them to quickly suffocate to death from the stink cloud, and their spirit leaves their body, yet they still managed to reach adulthood like the other letters have. In Number Lore, they witness the Calculator Ship get taken off.
I - The ninth letter of the Latin alphabet. He is colored pale blue. He has the ability to shoot deadly laser beams from his dot. He is the third of the letters that spell the word "FRIENDS" to be captured by F. He is likely the youngest of the adult letters, as he still remained cute even as a lowercase. He was used as a laser cannon by F in the original video, where he uses him to disintegrate J into ash. In Number Lore, he helps make "BIKE" so he can chase the numbers.
J - The tenth letter of the Latin alphabet. He is colored dark lavender. He was vaporized into ash by F using I as a laser cannon in his debut episode. Similar to I, he has the ability to shoot deadly lasers from his dot. In Number Lore, he fought against 3, with K's assistance, and he nearly won. He is possibly the father of K's eggs, which are yet to hatch, who appeared in Number Lore.
K - The eleventh letter of the Latin alphabet. She is colored vivid yellow and light gray when she was a lowercase moth grub. She resembles a moth. She is the mother of her eggs, which are yet to hatch, who appeared in Number Lore. In the original video, she was briefly captured by F and he used her to fly, but she was freed by M, and flew off shortly after that, and later dodges a laser beam shot by N during his final fight with F.
L - The twelfth letter of the Latin alphabet and one of two overarching antagonists of the first video alongside O. He is colored viridian green. The bottom of his body serves as a large chin. He was responsible for the events of the first video, as he made F spell the word "frick" from when the letters were all lowercase kids and was indirectly responsible for the deaths of H, J, C, P, X and lastly F. He is a member of the LMNOP superhero squad, and he possesses the period (.) gem, which enables him to freeze others in place and give him telekinesis. He was imprisoned by F in a bubble from the destroyed calculator ship in Number Lore episode 4 as revenge for him ruining F and N's childhood, and he later attempts to call for help while stuck in it and he remained stuck in it after the ship took off.
M - The thirteenth letter of the Latin alphabet. He is colored maroon. He is a member of the LMNOP superhero squad, and he possesses the comma gem, which enables him to slow things down. During the original video, he saves K from F and consoles N in a big hug after P is shot dead by G when he tried to stop F, and was stuck in F's black sludge before N saved him after F dies. In "2", he was shot by 2 after B and Q failed to save him, severely injuring him, although he survived 2's attack according to Geoff Galneda.
N - The fourteenth letter of the Latin alphabet and the supposed deuteragonist, later true main protagonist of the first video. He is colored light orange. He was F's former best friend from childhood. He is a member of the LMNOP superhero squad, and he possesses the semicolon (;) gem, which enables him to use magnetism to connect with other letters. In Number Lore, due to the rewritten timeline, he now has a permanent black eye and a missing tooth as a result of injuries he sustained from L and O after he stood up to the two in his childhood while defending F, and he forcibly parted ways with F on bad terms again in the 3 episode and he tried to stop F from leaving on the Calculator Ship with help from O, but was unable to. He and F will mostly likely reconcile in a future episode.
O - The fifteenth letter of the Latin alphabet and one of two overarching antagonists of the first video, alongside L. He is colored cerulean. He is a member of the LMNOP superhero squad, and he possesses the colon (punctuation) (:) gem, which enables him to connect with other letters. In Number Lore, he turns out to be more heroic than L was, to the point where he saves BIKE from crashing by acting as a spare tire and he reconciles with N so they can attempt to pull down the Calculator Ship.
P - The sixteenth letter of the Latin alphabet. She is colored carnation pink. She is G's girlfriend and later wife in Number Lore. She is also the mother of g. She is a member of the LMNOP superhero squad, and she possesses the exclamation mark (!) gem, which enables her to move at high speeds and emit sonic screams. She was fatally shot by G whenever he, U and N believed her to be F, who made her look like him, and turned into "GUN" and fired at her in the V episode. She seems to be made of bubble gum, as F was chewing on her flesh and blowing it the same way people would do so with the stuff. In Number Lore episode 3, she saves her son, g, after he was flung in the air by an angry 3, and gets trapped in a yellow cube shortly after that, and she, alongside the other letters, witnesses her son being taken away in the Calculator Ship. She will soon escape her prison cube according to Geoff Galneda. She is also the distant sister in-law of C.
Q - The seventeenth letter of the Latin alphabet. He is colored pale beige with darker brown shades. He resembles a slug, and he is very slow. He held the question mark gem, which enabled him to see the future. In Number Lore, he attempts to save M from 2's tooth bullets, but was unable to, which led to M getting shot. He was mostly likely appear again in the fifth episode.
R - The eighteenth letter of the Latin alphabet. He is colored dark red. He is the fourth of the letters that spell the word "FRIENDS" to be captured by F. In Number Lore, he spells the stealth word "JERK" with J, E and K when they get mad at L for crushing F's cave to pieces.
S - The nineteenth letter of the Latin alphabet. He is colored grayish green. He resembles a snake. He is the fifth and final of the letters that spelled the word "FRIENDS" to be captured by F. He is set to appear in the fifth act of Number Lore with a new look.
T - The twentieth letter of the Latin alphabet. He is colored gray. He resembles a hammerhead shark. He was pounded in the ground by F in the original video, leaving him stuck. In Number Lore, he witnesses the Calculator Ship take off.
U - The twenty-first letter of the Latin alphabet. He is colored light green. He moves like and resembles a slinky. In the original video, he helps G and N spell the word "GUN" to try and take down F, which unfortunately caused P's demise in the V part and he, G, M, and A were trapped in F's black slime after N escaped, but was later freed by N when F is slain in the original video. In Number Lore, he fails to catch up with the other letters when they chased the Calculator Ship, but he manages to dodge getting run over by the numbers' train.
V - The twenty-second letter of the Latin alphabet. He is colored navy blue. His body tends to wobble a lot due to being afraid of nearly anything around him to the point of bailing when the group go to F's cave. He can be used as a makeshift hang glider.
W - The twenty-third letter(s) of the Latin alphabet. They are colored wisteria purple. They are a pair of conjoined twin sisters. They spelled the word "COWARD", alongside C, O, A, R and D in N's bad dream in their debut episode. In Number Lore, they witness the Calculator Ship take off in space.
X - The twenty-fourth letter of the Latin alphabet. He is colored white with pale purple shades. He possesses the asterisk (*) gem, which enables him to create clones. He is a powerful ninja. He was gnawed to death by F in his debut episode. In Number Lore, he is targeted by the numbers for his asterisk gem and has his gem stolen so 1 can create more numbers, and he gets wounded in the fourth episode when he attempts to stop the numbers from reaching their ship, but couldn't due to losing his gem, leaving him in a crater in a reference to the infamous meme where Yamcha dies in the Dragon Ball franchise. He will most likely end up being the true protagonist of Number Lore later on. He is set to have a big moment in the fifth episode of Number Lore.
Y - The twenty-fifth letter of the Latin alphabet. She is colored white with pale yellow shades. She resembles a slingshot and is sometimes used as one as well. She was knocked out by 2 in his debut episode in Number Lore, but she survived according to Geoff Galneda. She will also be revealed to have romantic feelings for someone.
Z - The twenty-sixth and last letter of the Latin alphabet. He is colored white with teal shades. He possesses the ellipsis gems, which also act as his moons, and they enable him to reverse time. In Number Lore, he witnesses the Calculator Ship go off into space.
Numbers:
0 - The planet where all the numbers live on. He resembles Saturn and is most likely the overarching antagonist of Number Lore.
1 - The first number of the Arabic numeral system and the main antagonist of the second video. He is colored cobalt blue. He appears to be reminiscent of a Muppets puppet. His origin story will be revealed on season three.
1's clone - A clone of 1 who makes his appearance in the second episode of Number Lore.
2 - The second number of the Arabic numeral system. He is colored light golden yellow. He has traits of a rhinoceros and a horse. He has the ability to charge at others with his horn-like protrusion on his face and can shoot teeth of his mouth like bullets. He can be rode on like a horse would.
-2 - A weaker clone of 2 created via the minus gem from g tampering with the equation machine. He is colored lime green. He plummets to the ground, though Geoff Galneda confirmed he survived.
3 - The third number of the Arabic numeral system. He is colored scarlet red with a slightly lighter underbelly. He has traits of a frog and a dragon. He has the ability to breathe fire, similar to a dragon, can use his tongue to grab enemies and entrap them in yellow cubes.
4 - The fourth number of the Arabic numeral system. She is colored dark grayish-green with a light tan underbelly and red spikes. She has traits a snake/viper. She has the ability to stretch her plant-like body and can protrude spikes from the ground to stop opponents. An ability from her orange, pupiless eyes will be revealed later on, according to Mike.
5 - The fifth number of the Arabic numeral system. He appears to resemble a crocodile. He has yet to appear. According to Geoff Galneda, he will show up in the middle of the fifth act of Number Lore in the first part, which is also confirmed by Mike Salcedo himself.

Trivia
edit- Even though there are 26 letters in the show, there are technically 27/26.5 characters, as W is depicted as a set of conjoined twin sisters.
- As said on Mike Salcedo’s Patreon, he wishes to do shorts of this show, and says the characters speak with emotion and not words.
- It used to be known as “Mike’s Alphabet Series” or “Alphabet: The Series”.
- There are several references to anime on this webseries, as the LMNOP team's super forms are a reference to Sailor Moon, complete with similar transformations, and a reference to the famous meme that originated from the film, Akira, with the bike slide, performed by E when he, B, I and K form BIKE in Number Lore's third act.
