American Baptist was a newspaper in the United States. It was published in Louisville, Kentucky.[1]
It published a centennial edition in 1978.[2]
It was preceded by the Baptist Herald. George W. Dupree was its owner and general manager. It was renamed The American Baptist in 1879. W. H. Steward, secretary of the General Association of Kentucky Baptist took over as its leader. W. H. Ballew took over in 1935. Henrietta Butler and then Dr. Victor McKinney took over its leadership.[2]
