Amir Askari (born 1979) is an Iranian schema therapist, writer, and theorist known for his contributions to the field of schema therapy. He is particularly recognized for his book, New Concepts of Schema Therapy (The 6 Coping Styles), published in 2021, where he introduced three new coping styles—indolence, mockery, and gaucherie—as bio-psycho-evolutionary strategies. These additions complement the original three coping styles (surrender, avoidance, and overcompensation) identified by Jeffrey Young, the founder of schema therapy.[1].
