Amon, (or Noatak) is an antagonist in the Legend of Korra.[1] He serves as the main villain in book 1: Air. He leads the Equalists into a civil war to "Equalize" Republic city. His main goal is to take away every benders bending, but in a crazy battle in the pro bending stadium, he is stopped by the protagonist, Avatar Korra with the help of her friend, Mako.
Amon leads his followers into believing the spirits gave him the power to take bending, and that a firebender killed his family. In reality his father is Yakone, and learned bloodbending from him. He uses bloodbending secretly to take peoples bending in the show.
Rise and fall of Amon
editRise of Amon
editAmon first appears in Season 1, Episode 1. We see a very short scene of him at the end of the episode. Later on, he captures members of the bending triads, where he takes their bending at the "Revelation". Korra later joins a anti-equalist task force led by councilman Tarrlok, after being accused of being scared of Amon, Korra challenges Amon to a One on One fight, no task force or equalists. Amon, despite Korra's terms, brings his equalist chi-blockers, and defeats Korra, but refuses to take her bending in fear of the other nations attacking Amon's equalist movement.
Downfall of Amon
editAmon goes on to take the bending of The Pro Bending Champions (Tahno and the Wolf Bats). This triggers the city to go into war. Amon and the equalists near victory in the war with the help of Hiroshi Sato in creating new technology for equalists (like mecha-tanks). The Avatar and Mako go to take down Amon, where Amon takes Korra's bending away. Amon also begins to take Mako's bending away, but fails when Avatar Korra airbends for the first time. Amon is defeated by Korra, and it is revealed Amon was a waterbender, ending the equalist movement.
After losing, he lets his brother, Councilman Tarrlok, free where they escape republic city in hopes starting a new life. They leave on a boat, where Tarrlok discovers equalist gloves on the ship. Tarrlok uses the glove to blow them up, killing Amon and Tarrlok.
Childhood
editAmon is born with the name Noatak. He and his younger brother, Tarrlok discover they are waterbenders. Yakone uses this to his advantage, and teaches them bloodbending in order to take revenge on republic city. Noatak is able to master bloodbending quickly, unlike his brother. Years later he is forced to bloodbend his brother. His younger brother refuses too, and Noatak saves Tarrlok from his father, and runs away never to be seen again. He believed in equality as a young boy just the same as he did in The Legend of Korra.
Skills
editBending
editAmon is a Bloodbender, and a Waterbender. He achieved mastery in bloodbending quickly with the teachings of his father. Amon doesnt waterbend much, only bloodbends.

editAmon is also a Chi-Blocker meaning he can take peoples bending for a short duration of time. He is very agile, and can dodge any element thrown at him (unless it is airbending)
