Antoine d'Allemand was a hydraulic engineer and architect from Comtat, originally from Comtat Venaissin, born in 1679 and died in Carpentras on December 24, 1760.[1]
Antoine d'Allemand was born in 1679 in Carpentras. He was the son of Joseph-Esprit d'Allemand and Marie-Magdeleine de Silvacane de Camaret. His family had belonged to the old nobility of the town since the end of the 15th century.[2]
He married Charlotte des Isnard on 15 April 1714, with whom he had 14 children. His wife died in 1733.[3]
As an architect, he participated in the creation of numerous buildings in his native region, several of which are now protected as historic monuments. He took part in the "Bédoin controversy" concerning the construction of the village church. As an engineer, he published a treatise on water levelling.[4]
