Anton Tenkei Coppens (born 1949) is a Dutch Zen teacher. He is a dharma successor of Dennis Genpo Merzel Roshi. In 2002, he established Zen River Temple, which he runs together with his wife Tamara Myoho Gabrysch Sensei. It is the only Sōto Zen monastery in the Netherlands.[1][2]
Coppens started Zen practice in 1976. In 1980, he travelled to the Zen Center of Los Angeles where he met Taizan Maezumi Roshi and Dennis Genpo Merzel Roshi. He received dharma transmission from Merzel in 1996.[3]
He has written and contributed to several books, including editing a collection of Taizan Maezumi's tesihos, which he chose to present in poetic form.[4]
