In the 1970's BCRR decided to scrap Numbers through 4210 - 4234 (except the ones that MRD bought) to get more money to buy diesel engines (Ex: SD40-2). however, BCRR did not scrap the class 4400 in the 1970s. The Class 4400 begins production in 1932. The Class 4400 Type is GS-3 Operating through 1932 - 1947

The 4440 Class used for Bacon City Railroad was a series of 10 4-8-8-4 type steam locomotives built between 1933 and 1945. By 1944, they used the Class GS-7 type Locomotives to pull passenger and freight throughout the costal west and east coast.
Today, only 4 Class 4440 survive, with 2 units up on display and 1, No 4442, has been fully restored to operating condition. No 4442 located in Carson City, Nevada, was fully restored on July 11, 2007.
