Bhalayn, formerly recording as Nyalah, is an American R&B singer and songwriter. Raised in Baltimore and based in San Antonio, Texas, her music incorporates elements of pop R&B, trap soul, neo-soul and New-Jazz. Her work has been characterized by atmospheric production, expressive vocals and themes including feminine desire, intimacy, vulnerability and self-discovery.[1][2]
Career
[edit]Bhalayn began receiving wider exposure in 2023 while recording under the name Nyalah. Her song "Show Out" was featured in the ninth episode of the second season of the Starz crime drama BMF, titled "High Treason".[3] Uproxx listed the song at approximately the 16:33 mark of the episode and stated that the episode's music information was provided by Starz Public Relations.[3]
She later adopted the stage name Bhalayn.[1]
On April 17, 2026, Bhalayn and LLLucid released the collaborative single "Like A Treat".[4] The recording was released under exclusive license to Lucid Nation, LLC.[4]
Bhalayn released "Ignition" on August 21, 2026.[5] The recording is classified as R&B and credits Nyalah Bell and Alonzo Hargrove as songwriters, with production by gohan_boy and vocal production, engineering and arrangement by LLLucid.[5]
Laurelanne described "Ignition" as blending Pop R&B with New-Jazz influences, characterized by heavy bass, airy vocals and late-night production.[2] The publication also discussed Bhalayn's work in the context of feminine desire, vulnerability, intimacy and self-discovery.[2]
Coverage of "Ignition" also appeared in 2Trill Magazine, which described the track as a Pop R&B and New-Jazz blend centered on feminine passion, desire and momentum.[6]

[edit]Bhalayn's music is primarily rooted in contemporary R&B and incorporates elements of Pop R&B, trap soul, neo-soul and New-Jazz.[2][1] Her work uses atmospheric production and expressive vocals and explores themes including desire, vulnerability, personal evolution and feminine emotional experience.[2]
She has cited Tinashe, Chlöe, Justine Skye and SZA among her musical influences.[2]
