Bhim Singh is an Indian electrical engineer and academic known for his work in the fields of power electronics, renewable energy systems, and power quality improvement.[1] He is a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) and has held the position of SERB National Science Chair.[2][3]

Early life and education

Bhim Singh was born in 1956 in India. He received his Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Roorkee in 1977. Following this, he pursued his Master of Technology in Power Apparatus and Systems and later completed his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi in 1983.[4]

Academic career

Singh joined the faculty at IIT Delhi. His research work includes the design and control of systems for solar photovoltaic (PV) integration, microgrids, and electric vehicles.[5]

He has developed hybrid systems combining solar PV with small hydro power, advanced control strategies for microgrids, and power quality enhancement techniques for EV charging infrastructure.[6][7]

Awards and recognitions

Singh has received numerous awards, including the prestigious J.C. Bose Fellowship. He is a Fellow of leading academies such as Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Indian National Science Academy, and National Academy of Sciences, India.[8]
