The Black Hills Speedway is a 1/2 mile dirt track located in Rapid City, South Dakota. The track hosts events for Sprint Cars, Late Models, Modifieds, and Stock Cars.
The original track was a 5/8 mile oval built in 1949. It was later downsized to a half mile in 1976. In 2002 a smaller 3/8 mile oval was created inside the existing 1/2 mile track.[1] The larger track went into disuse for a while, but management in resurrected the half mile circuit in 2008.[2]
The track hosted one 200-lap NASCAR Grand National event (race 1953-23) on July 22, 1953 with Herb Thomas winning the event.
