Blackout Problems is an alternative rock band from Munich, Germany founded in 2012.
History
editBlackout Problems was founded in 2012 by Mario Radetzky, Marcus Schwarzbach and Michael Dreilich. After releasing several EPs and touring with German punk bands like Massendefekt or Heisskalt, their debut album Holy was released in 2016[1] by their own label Munich Warehouse and the German distributor Uncle M. The song One was the first track that received a music video. Holy reached number 57 in the German album charts. Nathan Gray, frontman of Boysetsfire, was featured in the album. The first edition of the album was sold out shortly after its release. That's why they released a second edition in summer 2016. After that they played in German TV shows like Circus HalliGalli and Puls Startrampe.
During the summer of 2016, Blackout Problems played at Open-Flair-Festival, Mini-Rock-Festival and Rocken-am-Brocken-Festival. After that they supported Apologies, I Have None on their Europe tour. On the 15th June 2018 they released their second album Kaos, also with their own label Munich Warehouse[2] and Cargo Records. It was produced by Philipp Koch like their debut album. Holy was released as a limited deluxe edition, which included a bonus remix album called KAOX, including artists like Florian Weber, Leoniden or Dave Hause.[3]
During the Record Store Week 2018 they exclusively release a special split vinyl with the German punk band Heisskalt, whose singer was featured on Blackout Problem's Gods EP. The EP could only be purchased in several record stores, at the Munich Warehouse and online as a 7" single record. On the 15th of January 2021 Blackout Problems released their third record DARK. Since 2022 Marius Bornmann of Heisskalt replaced Michael Dreilich as their drummer.
In March 2023 they played an unplugged show at the Global Climate Strike organised by Fridays for Future in Munich - showing their activism against climate change.
In the course of 2023 Blackout Problems played two tours in the UK and mainland Europe supporting the English post-hardcore band Enter Shikari. Also they will support Enter Shikari again on their Spring 2024 tour together with the American hardcore punk band FEVER 333.
On the 19th of October 2023 Blackout Problems announced their fourth studio album RIOT and released the first single PUZZLE. Five weeks later they released GLOFS, a track featuring Rou Reynolds of Enter Shikari.
