Bootay: Untold - The art of losing is an upcoming 2024 italian documentary sports film directed and written by filmmaker Johnny Calà.
Set in Verona, the subjects of the film is a seven-a-side football team of former Italian youth soccer stars whose careers never took off. Their stories intertwine with the experiences of former players of the Italy national football team, in a discussion regarding the health of Italian football and the youth sectors of Italian teams.[1]
Synopsis
editA director approaches a seven-a-side football team to shoot a documentary about their season. But when the city's most prestigious tournament begins, he has become an integral part of the group. From direct contact with the players and their stories of passion, sacrifice and missed opportunities, he draws inspiration to discuss the problems of youth football, guided by the stories and testimonies of various historical figures of Italian football.[2]
