editBrady’s Sushi and Hibachi is a locally owned and operated restaurant that specializes in traditional Asian cuisine such as hibachi, poke bowls, and sushi located in Richmond, KY. The owners are no strangers to the Richmond, KY community.[1]
Background/Early Life
editWen and Wan Lin are the current owners of Brady’s Sushi and Hibachi. The couple takes pride in the ability to discover the most unique flavors and share them in Madison County, Kentucky. In 1995, Their family moved to Richmond from China and opened China King in Carriage Gate shopping center. Wan Lin was the little boy taking orders at his family restaurant.[2]
Wan attended the University of Kentucky after receiving his diploma from Model Laboratory School in Richmond, KY. Soon after, Wan moved to New York and married his best friend Wen Lin. Wan and Wen grew up in China together, attending the same middle school.[3]
The couple married in 2014 and 2 years later Wen and Wan welcomed their baby boy Brady. Their son and Brady’s Sushi and Hibachi were named after Tom Brady. Tom Brady was their favorite quarterback, but the patriots played a large role in their marriage. The couple has been heavily invested in the Patriots as they've been to games and watched many super bowls. Wan enjoys talking and sharing sports and unexpected upsets or trades. [4]
Brady’s Cuisine
editIn 2017, Brady’s Sushi and Hibachi opened their doors. Brady’s original location is held by Lay’s Donuts. Brady’s current location is 511 Eastern Bypass Richmond, Ky.[5]
Brady’s Sushi and Hibachi has a mission to be the best casual dining restaurant for sushi and hibachi providing exceptional customer experience and extraordinary great tasting food. Brady’s is dedicated to providing the freshest ingredients. Wen and Wan’s biggest goal is to give back to the community that has given so much to them. [6]
Experiencing the cultures and cuisine in New York influenced them to offer cuisine from different cultures. Wen and Wan were particularly drawn to Hawaiian cuisine and because of that, pineapple fried rice could be found on the menu of Noodle shack.[7]
In 2022, the couple branched off into Vietnamese cuisine and opened Noodle Shack. Although the restaurant closed in 2024, Noodle Shack was known for revolutionizing the way people eat and enjoy food. Noodle Shack served traditional Vietnamese cuisine such as pho and Vietnamese egg rolls.[8] [9]
Brady’s Sushi and Hibachi mainly focuses on Japanese cuisine. Japanese Cuisine has been widely spread amongst different areas around the world. Even small towns such as Richmond, KY. Japanese cuisine emphasizes seasonality, simplicity, and the freshness of ingredients. Japanese Cuisine also prioritizes etiquette and presentation. In Japanese cooking, you will mainly find a balance between salty, sweet, and sour. Brady's has Featured Japanese cuisine such as Katsu curry and banh mi.[10]
Awards
editThe family has had a long history of achievements awarded to them from their community. In 2004, 2006-2011, and 2013-2017, China King was awarded #1 Chinese restaurant. Brady’s won the Madison County Best of the Best Asian Restaurant in 2020, 2021, and 2022. During heavy snowfall, the community never fails to help Brady’s clear their parking lot. Brady’s also participates in community events such as the Taste of Richmond event. Brady’s has a history of donating portions of their profit to CASA of Madison County.[11] [12] [13]
