Burden of the Witness is a metalcore band based in Tokyo, Japan, formed in 2024 by Jesse Zrinyi. The band combines Metalcore, Alternative metal, Deathcore and Electronic Elements.

History

Jesse Zrinyi, originally from Brisbane, Australia, moved to Tokyo, Japan, in 2019. Active in the music scene since 2014, joining the Grunge styled, Hard Rock band, ‘Jade Haven’ as their Drummer. They went on to release a five song EP and played a plethora of live shows around Brisbane and the greater area. The band then broke up, in 2017. After the bands breakup, he formed the Alternative Pop duo, with ‘Jade Haven’s’ vocalist, ‘Red Clover’ where they went on to release a four song EP, before the project was canceled, due to Zrinyi moving to Tokyo.

Zrinyi developed a passion for Metal music at a young age. Initially a fan of hip-hop artists such as Eminem, D12, and Tupac, his musical direction shifted at age 12 after a friend showed him the song "Du Hast" by Rammstein. He taught himself to play drums throughout high school and continued to play drums after school with a drum kit his mum bought him. He became proficient enough to become a music teacher at a Brisbane-based Music Academy from 2016 to 2018, where he taught Drums and Music theory.

In early 2023, Zrinyi began researching and practicing vocals extensively, learning both harsh and clean styles. By late 2023, he started writing and composing his own music, drawing from a decade of song ideas. In 2024, he formed Burden of the Witness and began recording.

Musical Style

Burden of the Witness features melancholic melodies, aggressive guitar riffs, with Electronic influences.

The band has released several singles, with plans for a full-length album to be released by the end of 2024.

Jesse Zrinyi is also the Founder and CEO of Jemtora, which is a direct-to-consumer website for collectibles from Japan, founded in 2023. He is also the creator of BlightBreed TCG, a trading card game that is still quite popular.
