Camilla Lewis (born January 1969) is an English television producer and executive. She is the co-founder and the chief executive of Curve Media, a London based company which produces long-running factual and entertainment programming for the BBC, Channel 4, Netflix, Sky, ITV, Disney+, Paramount+, and Channel 5.[1][2][3]
Prior to Curve Media, she led the factual departments at CBBC, BBC, Talkback Thames and Cineflix,[4][5] where she became an Emmy and BAFTA award-winning producer.[6][7]
Lewis serves on the board of directors of the Edinburgh International Television Festival[8] and is a former chair of the RTS Futures Committee, an initiative of the Royal Television Society aimed at supporting the next generation of television professionals.[9] She is also the co-founder of Promise Foundation.[10]
Career
editLewis began her career by producing factual and current affairs programs, including Watchdog.[11]
She was appointed Head of Factual at CBBC in 2001, where she commissioned and created all factual programming. In 2003, she became the executive producer in the BBC's specialist factual department, overseeing the output including Should I Worry About...?.[12][13] She then joined Talkback Thames, a division of FremantleMedia, as the Head of Factual Features and oversaw factual brands including Grand Designs, Property Ladder and Escape to the Country, and created Great British Railway Journeys and the RTS Awards winning Four Rooms.[14][15][16]
Lewis became chair of RTS Futures in 2009 and chaired the committee for the following six years.[17] In 2011, she was appointed Productions Managing Director at Cineflix, where she created the Emmy winning children's series Pet School.[18] In 2013, she co-founded Promise Foundation, a registered charity that offers one-on-one mentoring support to Queens Park Community School students.[19][20]
In 2014 she co-founded and became the CEO of Curve Media, an independent production company.[21] Since 2022, the company has been working alongside Night Train Media, a media group based in Munich.[22]
She became a member of Edinburgh International Television Festival's board of directors in 2019, where she is responsible for guiding the governance and strategic direction of the Festival, ensuring it remains a key event in the television industry calendar.[23][24]
