Candice Desmet (born 1988) is a French-born entrepreneur, actress, model and theatrical director. She is the founder and director of the London-based drama company Act'In Theatre.
Career
editDesmet started a Masters in biology, with the hopes of becoming a veterinarian. She started acting classes in Nantes at Guenal Morin in 2011, before moving to London in 2012.[1] Desmet had her first role in cinema in the feature film Naboru.[2] and continues to be active in cinema.[3]
Act'In Theatre
editAct'In Theatre started as a modest occupation for Desmet in September 2015, with just a few students.[4] Today, it hosts weekly drama, improvisation and cinema classes for adults and children everyday in London.[5] Desmet has been stage manager and artistic director of over 30 plays performed in London. This comprises a mix of French and English, and children and adult plays.[6]
Within Act'In Theatre, Desmet is also the manager of three troupes in London: the Gueules de Bois (French drama), the Gin & Scenic (English drama), and the Improzac (French improvisation).[7] Desmet has written many original scripts for her shows, with between 4 and 24 characters.
Cinema and modelling
editDesmet has worked in short and feature-lengths films with small producers. She recently had a lead role in the production Land of the Free.[3]
